Advanced Beginner, Level 4 - Intermediate, Level 5

Advanced Beginner, Level 4Top of Page
Children must be able to do all of the following before registering for this class*:
- Jump into the deep water from the side
- Pick up a toy from the bottom of the pool 3 times
- Float on their back for 30 seconds in the deep water
- Streamline off the wall 2 body lengths in the superman position
- Float face down in deep water for 20 seconds
- Demonstrate each stroke for the following distances:
- Freestyle: 1 lap
- Monkey: 1/2 lap
- Airplane: 1/2 lap
- Rocket: 1/2 lap
- Breaststroke basics
- Discus water safety rules
- Demonstrate how to get help
This class is for students 6 years old and up. The class is designed to develop confidence in the strokes previously learned and improve other aquatic skills. Students will increase their endurance by swimming elementary backstroke and front and back crawl for greater distances than at Level 3. The breaststroke and sidestroke will also be introduced at this level. Class is conducted in deep water.
(Must pass the previous level).
To Move to Next Level of Intermediate, they must be able to demonstrate ALL of the following:
- Dive hands first into the pool
- Swim underwater for 3 body lengths
- Swim 2 laps nostop
- Demonstrate each stroke for the following distances:

- Freestyle: 2 laps
- Backstroke: 2 laps
- Breaststroke: 1 lap
- Monkey: 1 lap
- Airplane: 1 lap
- Rocket: 1 lap
- Butterfly Basics

- Discuss water safety rules and demonstrate how to get help

- Breaststroke: 1 lap

- Discus water safety rules
- Demonstrate how to get help
In this intermediate-level class, students will increase speed, distance, and endurance, while fine-tuning their swim strokes. The butterfly stroke will also be introduced.
(Must pass the previous level.)
