This class is for students 6 years old and up. The class is designed to develop confidence in the strokes previously learned and improve other aquatic skills. Students will increase their endurance by swimming elementary backstroke and front and back crawl for greater distances than at Level 3. The breaststroke and sidestroke will also be introduced at this level. Class is conducted in deep water.
(Must pass the previous level).
 
Children must be able to do all of the following before registering for this class*:
  • Jump into the deep water from the side
  • Pick up a toy from the bottom of the pool 3 times
  • Float on their back for 30 seconds in the deep water
  • Streamline off the wall 2 body lengths in the superman position
  • Float face down in deep water for 20 seconds
  • Demonstrate each stroke for the following distances:
    • Freestyle: 1 lap
    • Monkey: 1/2 lap
    • Airplane: 1/2 lap
    • Rocket: 1/2 lap
    • Breaststroke basics
  • Discus water safety rules
  • Demonstrate how to get help

In this intermediate-level class, students will increase speed, distance, and endurance, while fine-tuning their swim strokes. The butterfly stroke will also be introduced.
(Must pass the previous level.)
 
Children must be able to do all of the following before registering for this class*:
  • Dive hands first into the pool
  • Swim underwater for 3 body lengths
  • Swim 2 laps nonstop
  • Demonstrate each stroke for the following distances:
    • Freestyle: 2 laps
    • Backstroke: 2 laps
    • Breaststroke: 1 lap
    • Monkey: 1 lap
    • Airplane: 1 lap
    • Rocket: 1 lap
    • Butterfly basics
  • Discus water safety rules
  • Demonstrate how to get help
 
*By registering for these classes, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the required skills for each level and have enrolled your child in the appropriate class. You understand that a class transfer will not be guaranteed if your child is not in the correct class.
